Individualized assistance with grant application forms and budget development. Types of services offered include the following examples: budget development and analysis consultation, education on and access to financial tools and templates, hands-on grant application and form preparation training, and guidance in navigating the pre- and post-award grant process.
This core offers education on: the appropriateness of cold-contact recruitment at a protocol-level; the process of incorporating this method into your IRB application and research data request; and study team access to and utilization of cold-contact recruitment reports. A consultation is required with the Research Preferences Manager prior to study team members being given access to REDCap recruitment projects.

The types of specific services offered include budget planning for recruitment, Clinical Trials Registry/ResearchMatch assistance, facility partnerships with study teams and researchers on campus for effective recruitment, assistance in developing recruitment and marketing materials, and strategic planning for recruitment and retention.
Individualized training and consultation for regulatory submissions and documentation. Types of services offered include: guidance on clinicaltrials.gov; assistance with obtaining federal certificates of confidentiality (CoC); feedback on human subject components of trials; assistance with Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)/Institutional BioSafety Committee (IBC)/Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and submissions; consultations on the Investigational New Drug (IND) applications and Investigational Device Exemption governances; assistance with the study initiation process; protocol writing assistance; pre-audit preparation; and regulatory training sessions (e.g. consent training).
This service is designed to connect researchers with the resources necessary to conduct their research more effectively. The types of services include: collaborator matching consultations; linkages to institutional and/or off site research services; assistance with research process questions; and guidance on MUSC research resources.
The Special Populations Navigation provides consultations to assist investigators with defining special populations for inclusion in translational research and other types of studies involving human subjects. They also provide consultations to identify community-based organizations and stakeholders to help facilitate access to special populations for inclusion in research. They provide consultations to identify electronic databases and institutional resources to increase the inclusion of special populations in research being conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.
